The Turkish Antigone

For me, Antigone is to theatre what Marie is to biscuits, stuff of the passed-over in the matters of taste. The Turks, however, did a remarkable production of the former, so rich in lights and sound design, so simple yet notable in its stagecraft, delivered with such control and impact, and studded with so brilliant performances, that it made even Antigone tolerable. Marie is yet to be redeemed however. Maybe the Turks have an acceptable version of that?
