If one is to make sense of the news channels on television, they collectively demonstrate that much like our most national obsessions, we are thinking the most about things we understand the least. Among them, the current chart-toppers have to be Exchange ratio and Sensex. There is so much analysis and data being thrown into the debate by presenters as well as 'experts' while our political leaders have admitted things are entirely out of their control. The civil society is trying to take the ownership of a de-politicized economy, and the results are there for anyone to see. We are left to fend for ourselves in the global economic order, which is no order because the axis of will has mysteriously disappeared, it has dissolved itself into the most transparent of all solvents: the market.
